The Cayman Islands Welcomes New Delta Service from New York-JFK Starting Winter 2025

The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) is expanding its airlift from the Northeast U.S. with the launch of Delta Air Lines' new nonstop service from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Grand Cayman. Beginning 20 December 2025, and running through 11 April 2026, the seasonal route will operate weekly on Saturdays.

The new route comes as a result of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism's (CIDOT) strategic aviation development initiatives led by Mrs. Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism. "Expanding our airlift capacity has been a cornerstone of our tourism development strategy," said Mrs. Harris. "By implementing a comprehensive aviation strategy and fostering key airline partnerships, we're successfully enhancing accessibility to our islands, particularly from our vital Northeast market. This Delta service from JFK represents exactly the kind of strategic growth we've been working toward."

The announcement follows closely on the heels of Delta's decision to reinstate nonstop service from Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to Grand Cayman, also beginning 20 December 2025. Together, these two new routes represent a major win for the Cayman Islands, offering travelers in key U.S. markets expanded, direct access to the destination.

While New York has long been a key gateway and the No. 1 U.S. source market for the Cayman Islands, this marks the first time in over a decade that Delta will operate service from JFK, further strengthening Northeast connectivity and opening new possibilities for winter escapes.

"Our marketing team has been instrumental in developing and executing effective marketing initiatives, which have continued to position the Cayman Islands as a premier destination. This announcement demonstrates the strong confidence that our airline partners have in the Cayman Islands" commented Gary Hendricks-Dominguez, Deputy Director - International Marketing and Promotions. "Delta’s commitment to establishing new routes reflects their recognition of our islands' appeal, the strength of our tourism product, and the robust demand from travelers seeking our unique blend of luxury, natural beauty, and authentic experiences. We're grateful for Delta's partnership as we continue to grow our visitor arrivals and enhance our position in the competitive Caribbean market."

Among several new routes Delta announced in April, Grand Cayman has already emerged as a strong performer for winter 2026. This robust demand underscores the Cayman Islands' position as the premier Caribbean destination, offering travelers a unique three-island experience across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. Known as the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean, visitors can indulge in exceptional dining experiences ranging from fine restaurants to local seafood shacks. Beyond the world-class cuisine, winter travelers will enjoy pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, world-renowned diving, and perfect temperatures averaging 78-85°F throughout the winter season, making the Cayman Islands the ultimate winter escape that combines luxury, natural beauty, and unparalleled hospitality.
