Workshop Summary

In today’s rapidly evolving tourism landscape, sustainability has become a crucial focus for cruise lines and their guests. Each year, cruise lines enhance their sustainability practices, but the importance of sustainability extends beyond the sea to the shore. It is essential for cruise destinations and their experience providers to prioritise sustainable practices within their destinations.
Aquila’s Sustainable Tourism Practices workshop is designed to equip Cayman Islands tourism stakeholders with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to enhance the sustainability of shore excursions and guest experiences. This course aligns with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council criteria and empowers participants with the mindsets, strategies, and skill sets needed to create more authentic, impactful, and sustainable travel experiences for cruise guests, ensuring that they leave with incredible memories.
Participants will explore a variety of topics during the full-day, on-site workshop, including:
  • Understanding sustainability and its relevance
  • Current sustainability trends in the industry
  • The role of local stakeholders in ensuring sustainable destination experiences
  • Guidelines for creating sustainable guest experiences
By increasing sustainability awareness and sharing practical knowledge, strategies, and tools, this course will help participants create positive impacts for everyone involved. Moreover, it will ensure that participants can continue to showcase what makes the Cayman Islands special to guests today, tomorrow, and long into the future.
This is an internationally recognised certification course with limited spaces, so early registration is encouraged.
